You make me BRAVE / cedar rapids, ia editorial photography

Take a moment and read these verses or listen to this ever popular song:

Sometimes, I find myself rocking out to this song and not even really paying attention to the lyrics. As I got ready to blog this session, I realized that amidst the simplicity of this song there is so much truth. We are constantly surrounded by images and voices telling us "we aren't good enough, we will never make it, or we must lay our beliefs aside to make it in the world." Well, let me tell you if we even entertain the thought of these voices, our confidence is quietly and quickly chipped away. We at times unknowingly second guess our Creator and forget His promises are true and HE has equipped us with what we need to run this race. HE MAKES US BRAVE, brave enough to face the day, brave enough to continue through trials, brave enough to walk out beyond the shore.

Below are some of my favorite promises in Scripture:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17

"The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." - Exodus 14:14

"No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 8:37-39

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29

This fall (Sept 25th -26th, 2015) First Assembly is holding a women's conference called BRAVE in Cedar Rapids. I was privileged to have to have the opportunity to photograph their advertisement material and it was fabulous working with all these ladies! Check out this years speakers and sign up!

Puddle Jumper Editorial Session / marion, iowa photographer

Can I just say, if there is one thing I have looked forward to this year, it would be seeing some GREEN GRASS. I feel sorry for my husband and all the whining he has heard from me about everything being ugly and brown, which led to an excuse not to work on some photography projects, followed by making a great argument on how we need to move. Needless to say...I survived and can't wait to get out there and photograph!

This session was supposed to happen when it was a little more green but I caved and shot it early. Honestly, I LOVE it and am happy with my choice.

Now on to some fun things. First, don't let these images deceive you; this little girl was frankly, afraid of the mud and getting dirty...which continues to make me laugh to this day. She looks like quite the trooper out there though.

Second, because this session ranked high on my list of favorites...there are THREE spots available for your kids! 2015, has been full of some fun changes and one of those is getting rid of sessions I don't like to shoot and focusing on KIDS, families & seniors. Throughout this year, I am offering both limited edition spots (like the puddle jumper sessions) and customized editorial themes for clients.

The "Puddle Jumper Sessions" will be available on May 28th, 29th & 30th. The booking fee is discounted for these sessions and there is NO purchase minimum. You can find out more info & reserve your spot HERE.

Had to add this last image because it makes me laugh...we are making it rain people.

Last Breath of Winter - Iowa Senior Photography

Like many other fellow Iowans, I thought winter was long gone and we were not going to be getting anymore snow.  Being a sunshine, hot weather girl, it was an exciting thought.  But there was just one little thing I didn't get to accomplish without winter snow...a photo shoot.  I had been eyeing an idea for quite sometime but was not going to attempt it this year unless the weather was perfect and well it was perfect.  I like to think it is the last breath of winter and now we can move into Spring.

This dress was put together by my sister and I, we will just say it was rather pokey, heavy and difficult to maneuver and I don't think I will make one of these again.  Can I get points for recycling an old Christmas tree?  And can I get extra point for actually making something from ideas I pinned on my Pinterest board?  I should be rolling in the points now haha!

^ It was really cold out :)

Behind The Scenes of Bring Me Hope Promo Video│Marion, IA

This last month, I had the amazing privilege to put together a promotional video for Bring Me Hope Foundation.  They are accepting volunteers to go to China and work with Chinese orphans at a summer camp.  It is an awesome opportunity that include follow up and orphan advocating.  If you are looking for a summer trip that is life changing check them out.

To follow up with this another exciting venture is that I am now part of the Bring Me Hope team and have the role of Co-Coordinator...*this is where i squeal with excitement.*  Life is good.

Here is the Promo Video, followed by lots of behind the scenes goofy pics of the process...and yes all that confetti was hand made by my Mom, Sisters and I.  Will we do it again?  Probably not hahah!  Enjoy!
